Hildegard of Bingen pilgrimage trail

On the trail of Hildegard von Bingen

Logo Hildegard of Bingen Pilgrimage TrailThe fascination with the life and work of Hildegard von Bingen is still great today. The abbess, poet, theologian, naturalist and healer lived in the region throughout her life.

The 137 km hiking trail begins in Idar-Oberstein and continues via Niederhosenbach, the possible birthplace of Hildegard von Bingen, to Bad Sobernheim.

In the neighboring village of Odernheim am Glan is the Disibodenberg monastery ruin, where Hildegard spent almost 40 years of her life. The trail ends in Bingen am Rhein. Here, the Rupertsberg vaulted cellar still bears witness to Hildegard's last place of work, the Rupertsberg monastery.

You can obtain the pilgrim's pass from the local tourist information offices.
